How do i get a guy to ask me on a date?

So i like this guy a lot. He is a perfect gentleman, smart, talented, and pretty good looking. Im not ugly, im no model but people tell me i'm pretty all the time, im not concieted im just saying it's not because of that, i don't think... hopefully not. We are involved in some of the same activities and he finally knows i exist, but he doesn't know i exist as a woman and know he is a man if you know what i mean. Now that we are friends, not super close but im working on it, how do i get him to ask me out? He doesn't seem to care that much about being in a relationship with anyone, more or less he's a bit oblivious to the things he does to the fairer sex with out trying at all, no one should be allowed to go around unattached like that melting poor girls hearts! I have never liked someone this much in my entire short life of 19 years! I am a terrible flirt unless i am acting, and he has a way of taking words right out of my mouth, so what do i do?
